Brown’s votes almost doubled that of her opponent Turner. President Joe Biden had nothing but praise and high hopes for Brown, who previously defeated Turner in a special election 5 months ago after Biden tapped then Congresswoman Marcia Fudge to join his cabinet as Secretary for the Department of Urban Development.

The President released this statement on yesterday morning after hearing of Brown’s victory. “Shontel Brown’s primary victory last night was an important step forward toward building a better Ohio and a better America. I was proud to endorse Shontel in her primary bid for re-election because she has been a strong leader in Congress and a partner in the work to cut costs and create jobs. She is focused on solutions that will matter most to Middle Class and working families, such as passing legislation like the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. I’m proud of Shontel and her demonstrated record of fighting for the people of Ohio, and I thank her for her continued work in service to the American people.”

Although Brown has only held her position for five short months, she obviously has had a huge impact on those that she has worked with. She had the approval and support of Cleveland Mayor, Justin Bibb and many other powerful politicians and businessowners that helped her cruise to victory. She also had the support of Former First Lady and Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Brown must now face Republican challenger, Eric J. Brewer in November. Brewer, the former Mayor of East Cleveland defeated James Hemphill to get the nod from the Republican Party.

After a not-so-stunning victory on Tuesday night, Congresswoman, Shontell Brown, remained in office after easily downing former Congresswoman Nina Turner in a not-close-at-all race for the 11th Congressional District seat.
